Uniform Project’s ‘Pilot Series’

If you know me you also know I am a sucker for a good environmental cause especially when it collides with the world of fashion. Summer Rayne Oakes is doing the Uniform Project’s ‘Pilot Series’ challenge, which features a new tastemaker each month, wearing ONE little black dress all month, in an effort to increase awareness for sustainable and responsible fashion and at the same time raise funds for a global cause. The material used for the dress, a silk-hemp blend, hand-woven Thai silk and hemp-organic cotton blend, was sourced from Oakes’ new sustainable textile portal, Source4Style.com, a website that brings sustainable materials right to designers’ laptops. To keep things interesting she will style the dress with Isabel Toledo, Lela Rose and Christian Siriano accessory collections designed exclusively for Payless ShoeSource. Oakes will also pair the dress with products from the green Zoe & Zac footwear line for Payless that she helps design. Payless will match dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000, for all donations made throughout March to charity: water through the donation button on the Uniform Project site. Payless will also give a 50% off offer on a single Zoe&Zac purchase throughout 2011, for those that donate $10 or more. Every effort helps… www.theuniformproject.com
