The Ballad of Sexual Dependency

I friend of mine gave me Nan Goldin’s photo book, “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency” during our Sophmore year at Bard and it has stayed one of my favorite books for all the obvious reasons. In retrospect I think I only now realize how much it has influenced my aesthetic over the years. It summarized visually what so many of us felt or dealt with emotionally. I love Nan… The whole series is being shown now through October 16th at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Presented in its original 35mm slide-show format, it’s part of the exhibition “Exposed: Voyeurism, Surveillance, and the Camera Since 1870”. So worth a day trip out there…
