Lolita at Hollywood Forever

You know summer in LA has officially started when Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery starts doing their film screenings. This Saturday it’s Stanley Kubrick’s 1962 classic Lolita so grab your blankets, wine and snacks and get on it! One of the best things to do in LA, and the only place where standing in line to get in is as fun as actually being in. June 23rd is Polanski’s Chinatown!

Mumford & Sons, Gentleman of the Road Stopovers

This sounds so right up my alley, I think I see a summer road trip in my near future. Mumford & Sons are doing a US Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers mini tour in August that is “based loosely upon our favorite festivals like Colorado’s Telluride Bluegrass and Scotland’s Loopallu Festivals. We want to stop off in towns where bands don’t usually tour, and celebrate the local people, food and music.” The Sons will not only headline but will also bring together a hand picked Continue reading

Sang A Bag, Fall 2012

Black is back! I have been secretly hungering for all of my black staples lately and am excited that so many designers are back on black for fall. When I was a youngen black was all I wore, it made shopping so easy… Where is the black rack? Ah. There we go. Done. It took years to switch gears and being in LA full time has brought out the color loving optimist in me for sure but everyone needs some good black staples in their life. Love this black leather bag from Sang A!

Ashim Ahluwalia, Miss Lovely at Cannes

Speaking of India… Our old friend Ashim Ahluwalia who we graduated from Bard with just screened his feature film, “Miss Lovely” about Mumbai’s film industry in the 80s, at Cannes this week. Ashim was, without a doubt, the most talented guy in our film class from day one. He had an incredible eye all the way through and a killer instinct on what was next (he was the one that tried to talk me into shooting my first feature film on video instead of film back in 1996). His senior project was stunning, so beautifully shot on a little old Bolex, I still remember it to this day. Amazing. Can’t wait to see him at the Oscars one day. Ashim’s film “John And Jane” screened at the Toronto Film festival in 2005 and Berlin in 2006. The trailer for “Miss Lovely” and an old photo from our film school days below… Continue reading
