Great start to fashion week in New York with LA lady Corey Lynn Calter who showed her new fall 2012 collection at Pier 59 studios this morning. I love all the prints and pleats, dresses and coats! Gorgeous! Cali-based Too Faced cosmetics did the make up backstage which was beautifully colorful as well. And I am, as always, a big fan of putting a bird on it. Speaking of traveling in style, Mulberry has just launched a new set of travel bags based on their Alexa bag designs that come in Oak Shiny Lambskin, Lizard Print with embossed ‘scale’ texture, statement Mixed Lizard Print and Haircalf and the two-tone Natural Animal Print. There is even a chic camera bag which I love! The bags will be available to view online from February 15th.
I love traveling, even with the past ten years of annoying (and invasive…) security check changes I still find pleasure in getting ready for a trip and dressing up for the occasion. You never know who you will meet or what adventures are around the corner. And ever since I got my lightweight Rimowa luggage last year (at the store opening in Beverly Hills, it’s a shameless plug but seriously, the little thing packs a punch and rocks my world), packing and rolling through the airport has gotten that much easier. We saw Madonna’s film “W.E.” yesterday and I am newly obsessed with the film as well as the life of Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII. Madonna hit it out of the park with the film so if you get a chance to see it I highly recommend it. Ignore the lame critics, they take cheap shots soley because it’s Madonna and she continues to kick ass regardless of age, rules or boundaries imposed on her by others. That’s why we love her. The film is sexy and intriguing, especially the romance between Wallis & Edward and all of it is pretty mesmerizing. And Arianne Phillips costumes are perfection as usual. This video above that I watched about the secret letters of Wallis & Edward is equally fascinating. Not at all what you expect. I want to name my daughter Wallis.
