Unique LA

Two of my favorite budding young LA designer talents will be at the Unique LA show this weekend from 10am to 5pm at the Califonria Market Center penthouse at booth # 236. Hat maker Rehn Dudukgian and designer Tess Vigil will be selling their hats (Bijou Van Ness) and dresses (50 Dresses) all weekend. For more images from both click here…. Continue reading

Nylon Young Hollywood Party

LA is an endless round of fascinating nights… The one above was this Wednesday at Bardot in the heart of Hollywood for Nylon‘s Young Hollywood issue which had Emma Roberts and Rory Culkin on the cover. Ms. Roberts was just sitting next to us at lunch at you know where in West Hollywood with one of my other favorite talented youngens, Juno Temple (and Chord Overstreet who we love on Glee). Reminded me that I never posted this photo from the other night…

Street Art, LA

Driving can get boring in LA so I love seeing the unexpected while avoiding crashing into the car in front of me. This was on the corner of Sunset and Crescent Heights. I turned around and looped back to shoot it on the way to lunch earlier today. Wish more people would do interesting street art.

Taryn Manning’s “Turn It Up” Director’s Cut

Let me preface this by saying I love the final cut, but of course have some attachment to the first edit, so here it is. Taryn is a gem and a star. Uber-talented, beautiful and easy to work with so there was no way to go wrong with it.

Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2011

I love this Rebecca Minkoff Mab Mini Bombe bag that hits stores in August. The California girl who launched her bag line in 2005 finally started doing a ready to wear collection in 2009 which I am crazy about as well. Super cute and wearable.

Taryn Manning’s New Music Video

Although I have been working with Taryn Manning for almost a year as her stylist she came to me a few months ago and asked me to direct her new music video. She had seen some of my films and music videos that I had done over the years while working as a fashion editor and they went right along with the inspiration she and I looked at together. So I ended up styling and directing this video for her over a period of two days in LA in late March. We spent one day in a studio and the next day on a rooftop in Hollywood with an old 16mm Bolex. We had an amazing team and an easy, fun shoot. The video is finally out and live on People. Continue reading

MOCA Contemporaries Art Series

Last night we had the second in our series of MOCA Contemporaries art panels at CAA. The Fashionable Body: A Dialogue Between Art & Fashion was one of the things I have been working on since joining the board last summer and it was kind of amazing to see it finally come alive. Our moderator Rose Apodaca rounded up stylist and costume designer Arianne Phillips and designer Continue reading

Tila March Bags

Stumbled on some super cute Tila March bags while walking through Hillary Rush today after lunch. She has the one below in stock at the store and you can maybe possibly find the one above in some of the larger retailers like Bergdorf’s or Colette that carry the line or online. If you found it let me know…

Beastie Boys Are Back

I just went to the premier of the Beastie Boys‘ new film “Fight For Your Right Revisited” which accompanies the release of their latest album, Hot Sauce Committee, Part Two out tomorrow. The three rabble-rousing Jews from NYC are still hot as ever. Even if they are twenty years older (aren’t we all??) and shooting their videos on a Warner Bros lot instead of the LES… I am in awe of their ability to reel in every cool actor from either coast into their latest shenanigans.

Cloud Noir

I finally found a dining room table at a small boutique on 3rd street that’s been open a year called Cloud Noir. Dante Brugger and Patrick McCarthy do beautiful hand made furniture with the exact aesthetic I have been salivating over but can’t really afford in some of the other stores I’ve seen. That vintage, shabby chic, old farm table vibe that I am obsessed with was surprisingly affordable and beautifully done at Cloud Noir. They will also stain the pieces whatever color you like.
