Katherine Bernhardt At The Hole

Before you leave town for the holidays go see Katherine Bernhardt’s show at The Hole, which is up through December 28th. I met Katherine ten years ago, I think through Wallace Whitney who I went to Bard MFA with and who had just opened up Canada. At the time, I asked her to paint a fashion story for us at Russian Harper’s Bazaar and gave her looks from the runway to paint with models of her choice on canvas. That was when she was working on the series above, which was the inspiration for what I wanted her to do for the magazine. I loved that fashion story. It got cut from the Art issue ironically enough (not my choice obviously), I think it was a bit edgy for the Russians back then.

Sundance 2014 is almost here! Two weeks of endless joy in a dark theatre getting to know all the amazing talent to watch next year. Below are the ones I am dying to see. It’s impossible to see everything but if you hit an average of four films a day it’s possible to see a lot. Like every year, there is a lot to criss cross off my Sophie’s Choice list, including a new film from Anton Corbijn AND Jim Jarmusch! Going to The Chapel…

My best friend, sister got married in a surprise wedding last night. That is her in the dress we picked out together with her archery bow last night at the party. She rocks. She and her fiancee invited their friends and family over for an “engagement slash housewarming” party and half way thru we did a costume change into her wedding dress. Holiday Open House & Toy Drive On Sunset

#tbt from Russia with love. The closest I got to finding a photo in the archives that was holiday related! My mom made me the headpiece for some holiday festivities in Moscow back in the 70s. In the spirit of holiday giving the shops at Sunset Collection are having an Open House & Toy Drive tomorrow from 12 noon til 7pm, with food, music, drinks and all kinds of fun giveaways (*blow outs, manis, tans, etc) from 12 noon to 1PM in exchange for a nice new toy for the tots. 8539 W Sunset Blvd. In the heart of it all. Ask for Kelli at Vered Salon, she does the most amazing blow outs.
