Happy Father’s day to my father, and my dad, both of whom I love so much. My dad married my mom when I was 17 in Baltimore, and he is the best father I’ve ever had. He has been there for every major event and heart break, paid for countless trips to the car repair shop in high school and always stood by me through mistakes and triumphs. My father, who mom and I left behind in Moscow when we emigrated was wonderful all those brief years I got to spend with him and all the moments I got to know him again when we reunited when I was 21 and returned to Moscow for the first time in fifteen years, until he passed away in 1999.
