Ballet Russes is having an exhibit (Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes, 1909–1929: When Art Danced with Music) at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. that opened in May and runs through September 2nd. The dance company, which was so much more, was founded by Serge Diaghilev in 1909 in Paris, and the exhibit includes drawings, posters, photographs, films clips, costumes by Henri Matisse, Coco Chanel and Pablo Picasso as well as set designs by Giorgio de Chirico.
