I went to a screening of Begin Again this week, the new film from Once writer and director John Carney, starring Kiera Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. If you saw Once and fell in love with everything about it this one is for you. If you didn’t, it will be a great introduction to what John Carney does with his special weave of music and film. I love the painful joy his films emit, and the way he makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Life is nothing without second chances and the hope that creativity inspires. Aside from a fantastic cast, which also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Catherine Keener (wish there was more of her on screen), Adam Levine, Yasiin Bey and Cee Lo Green, the pacing of the film is lyrical and inspirational. The music is everything it promises and the ending is perfect. The film opens June 27th from Weinstein Company, you can watch the trailer below.
