Full disclosure, I missed the Joy Cioci presentation during NYFW entirely by accident. It was the day after the Imitation of Christ show that I styled so I was exhausted and for some reason had entered the presentation in my calendar for Saturday not Friday. So when I went to go see it after the Charlotte Ronson show (with Tara Subkoff and her boyfriend in tow, I had just raved to Tara about how talented Joy was and how we must stop by and take a peek) only to be told that it happened… yesterday. So, here I am. The collection looks beautiful and this is only her second season. Even this early on in her career Joy has somehow managed to master the balance between creating a commercial collection that buyers will love and sell and a fashionable tone that will hit all the right sexy chords with the fashion forward girls that can actually wear runway looks. Genius. She is so talented. I was trying all season to get someone into her threads for the right occasion and thankfully, just in time, Taryn had a film premier and wore one of Joy’s beautiful dresses from her first collection.
