I got a copy of Cecil Beaton‘s 1954 classic, “The Glass of Fashion,” in the mail today. Out of print for years, the book is being reissued, with a foreword by Hugo Vickers, this fall by Rizzoli and hits stores and online September 2nd. Although known as one of the fashion world’s earliest photographers who worked for Vogue and Vanity Fair starting in the 1920s, he was also a prolific writer and diarist, interior designer and an Oscar-winning stage and costume designer. I would say he was one of the original photographer slash stylist slash writers in the world of fashion. The original cover above and the reissue below. So excited to read the “bible of fashion.”
