I went to the premier of HBO’s Newsroom on Wednesday night and LOVED every minute of it. Love Will McAvoy’s (Jeff Daniels) opening monologue (see above) and so happy to see Emily Mortimor. It’s filled with the usual great writing and dialogue you expect from Aaron Sorkin. I am so obsessed with the recent crop of shows that make you listen, think and follow in order to keep up rather than spewing blood, fangs and story lines as simple and ridiculous as the dark horses they rode in on. For years I enjoyed all those other shows that have the drug dealers and meth cheerleaders as normal people just getting by, serial killers and mobsters “just like us”, but I am so over it! Instead I am obsessed with Downton Abbey and now, Newsroom. Episode one premiers tonight on HBO.
