Hydra Facial

I had the most amazing facial this week at an event hosted by Live Love Spa. The Hydra Facial has been used by doctor’s offices for almost a decade and is now also available at spas like the Four Seasons. It’s similar to microdermabrasion but uses a slightly less aggressive technique. Honestly, it was fantastic and my skin felt like new again after Michelle removed all that dead skin and, yes, dirt. I loved her idea of using it all over the body, how is no one doing that yet? It’s genius and we would all be running for appointments. Can you imagine an instant body scrub like that? Love it.

Colette’s France

colette book

Look what Rizzoli sent this week! A gorgeous book by Jane Gilmour on “Colette’s France,” which comes out October 1st, just in time for my birthday. The French writer Colette is known for her love affairs with women and young men (her 17 year old step son was one of her lovers!) as well as of course her amazing books and short stories that were feminine, racy, outrageous and provocative when she wrote them in the early 1900’s and still remain just as intriguing and fascinating now. The book is packed with photos, drawings and history, the perfect gift for your lit obsessed friends.

Young Designers Harlyn & Litke, Spring 2014

harlyn

I stopped by Coterie this morning and saw some really cute things from Harlyn, Maria Stanley’s LA based line, which she’s done now for three seasons. I also really loved this young NY-based designer who is only in her second season, Catherine Litke. She had really interesting shapes and knits, along with gorgeous dresses with a great sophisticated vintage vibe. More from each of them below. Continue reading

Lizzie Fortunato & Jerome C. Rousseau

lizzie inspiration

This afternoon I stopped by the Lizzie Fortunato fashion week showroom, which Kathryn and Lizzie always share with LA based shoe designer Jerome C. Rousseau. They usually do it at Soho House but this year they’ve got a makeshift showroom on the Bowery. I loved the new direction Lizzie took her jewelry to this season after an inspiration trip to Japan, where they visited the Naoshima Museum. I also fell in love with Kathryn’s beautiful vintage lace skirt, which she found at a shop called Bon Ton Vintage somewhere on the drive between Dallas and Austin Texas. And of course there was the usual array of gorgeous heels, boots and clutches from Jerome. Love these young talented designers! Continue reading

Th Last Magazine Party

last mag

We went to The Last Magazine party last night after seeing Goldfrapp play at The Beacon uptown (*thanks Sheryl!). Her new album, Tales of Us was released yesterday and this was the only US show she is playing for now. It was amazing. Then we went to Mamoun’s on St.Mark’s for falafel. Yeah, that happened and it was awesome. Ran into our old friend Scott Lipps at the party, who just had his own party for his book PopLipps, which Powerhouse just published. So many familiar faces… I remember when Scott started One Models years ago, after leaving Karin, with just a few polaroids on his board, all of whom I shot at some point that year: Rie, Karolina, and Jamie.
