David Choong Lee had his opening last night at Le Basse Projects in Culver City. His paintings are multi-layered not only literally but also visually. He has been building some of the layers for a few years on many of the paintings in the current show and it is easy to get lost in the dreamy collage of the work. His work blends figurative, abstract and street art into a symphony of politics and pop culture. It’s really stunning to look at it and I fell in love with it. Lee was born in 1966 in Seoul, Korea and moved to the USA in 1993.
