Recent FIDM grads and childhood best friends Carissa Simons and Lynsey Longo are launching their first collection for Spring 2011. The young LA-based designers have teamed up to create a small ambitious capsule collection for their line Ellie Lavelle. There are a couple of cute pieces like the gold jacket above, which I love and a short sleeve cropped crocodile jacket (not shown). But the ripped T-shirts need to be rethought and aren’t really ripe for retail consumption. It may be a great though somewhat redundant touch for styling a lookbook but the collection will make a stronger statement without it on the final rack. No word yet on what doors will carry the line or what the price points will be but let’s hope the prices are in tune with what a young collection should be because that gold jacket is really super cute and could potentially sell well. www.ellielavelle.com
