Robert Rauschenberg Photographs 1949-1962

DAP just published a stunning book of photographs by Robert Rauschenberg that he shot from 1949 to 1962 of all of the people he was hanging around with which just happens to include the likes of Jasper Johns and Merce Cunningham as well as a slew of other gems from the eye of one of the world’s greatest artists. Rauschenberg also has a foundation for artists that helps them in emergencies so back in 2000 when I herniated a disc in my lower spine and couldn’t walk for almost a year (and was without health insurance because Russian Harper’s Bazaar didn’t do health insurance) I needed money for an MRI and guess which foundation came through… I love Rauschenberg (who passed away in 2008) for many reasons.
