Wednesday May 27th Ava DuVernay’s grassroots film collective AFFRM will host a 12-hour long Twitter takeover, taking questions from fans, to raise awareness for AFFRM’s mission called Array Releasing. Some of my favorite filmmakers are taking part in the 12 hour dialogue, including Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station), Julie Dash (Daughters of The Dust), and Rick Famiyuwa (Dope) along with other talented artists: Debbie Allen, John Singleton, Tyler Perry, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Malcolm Lee, Euzhan Palcy and Haile Gerima. What I want to know is where is Charles Burnett? How has our industry not revived his career? It is a disgrace that a filmmaker of his talent does not work. Seriously. The hashtag is #ARRAY.
