A road trip addict: one easily seduced by abandoned gas stations, bars, diners, random buildings and motels across the country. Driving cross country not only includes time to meditate and listen to talk radio and music for 15 hours a day (torture for some, heaven for others) but also to see beautiful crumbling spaces from California to New York. As usual, I stopped for used books, records and BBQ (Been Around Records in Little Rock, Burke’s Book Store and Central BBQ in Memphis, Fond Object in Nashville and Archer’s BBQ in Knoxville), as well as a weekend with a friend in Nashville during CMA’s, where I finally made it to Acme Feed and Seed and Roberts Western World for some live music, backyard BBQs and yard sales. Color me happy from ear to ear.
