Dead And Breathing

Last Saturday we went to see Dead and Breathing, the new production at the National Black Theatre in Harlem, written by Chisa Hutchinson, directed by Jonathan Mccrory and starring Lizan Mitchell and Nikki E. Walker. The play explores layers of race, class, sex, gender, relationships, cancer and life and death by choice. As serious as it sounds it is also hilarious, heartbreaking and heartwarming, which is what brilliant art and writing tends to do: make us laugh, cry, laugh and cry again. It is so worth the $40 ticket and a ride up to 125th street. The play runs through November 23rd.
