Hudson Valley Road Trip

I’ve been spending weekends in the Hudson Valley since getting back from my Southern road trip. There is so much happening in that area. Yesterday we went for lunch at Mill House Brewing Company, which opened last November in Poughkeepsie and has a very tasty selection of homemade brews and food. Sunday we did a whiskey tasting at Hudson Whiskey at Tuthilltown and Sunday night it was crabcake and apple slaw time at Liberty in Rhinebeck. I wanted to take my friend to Bubby’s burrito stand in Red Hook but they’re closed Sundays and Mondays and the last day for the season is this Thursday. A few miles away in Tivoli artist Brice Marden just opened The Corner Hotel and restaurant about a month ago. Bard is all over the media news with a profile on Leon in this week’s New Yorker (I am forever a fan of Camp Leon, where I got my BA and MFA in film, and met some of the most amazing friends and teachers in the world). In between there are great antique shops and local farms, dairy and ice cream stops, Quattro’s in Pleasantville and Otto’s in Germantown, the list is endless and growing so just driving and exploring is the best thing to do.
