Topanga Blues Festival & Shakespeare in the Park

This past Sunday a friend invited me to the Topanga Blues Festival at the Theatricum Botanicum where I happily went dressed in full music festival attire* (see below). The venue is super small and super cute, and I loved the vibe of the whole thing (including the pulled pork BBQ). And although I am not an expert on blues or jazz by any stretch my favorite performance of the day was the amazing jazz legend Barbara Morrison who performed with Joe Kincaid & The Soul Brothers. Ms. Morrison will be performing at the BMPAC Spring Blues festival on Saturday & Sunday May 19th and 20th at noon on both days (4305 Degnan Blvd #101) if you want to check her out. The Topanga Blues Festival sells out fast every year so get your tickets early next May. Also starting June 2nd through early September they do Shakespeare at their outdoor theater which sounds like a fun Sunday afternoon. Above, a photo from a 1999 jazz inspired shoot I styled with photographer Larry Fink (who is a huge jazz fan) and model Kiara (Alice) Kabukuru for the long gone Detour magazine.

*As I was walking out the door Sunday I remembered I had gotten a package the day before and forgotten to open it and when I did I found a cute fedora from Hat Attack who just launched a new line of SPF protected hats for Cancer Awareness month with 20% of online profits to benefit the Skin Cancer Foundation. The Hat Attack fedora above with my favorite Levi’s denim jacket, Johnny Was dress, Oliver Peoples sunglasses, Helena de Natalio bag and Casadei boots. The stage below…
