Henninger’s Tavern, Baltimore

Henninger’s has been around for 25 years on a quiet unassuming block of Bank Street between Wolfe and Anne in Fells Point. It’s always filled with in the know locals and someone passing through who has heard of the place from someone else. The food is fresh, homemade and fantastic and the atmosphere is casual yet chic with a super intimate retro vibe and walls covered in old paintings and photographs. They have the best crab cakes this side of the Potomac (and that can’t be said lightly since this is Maryland after all) and mussels to die for, dare I say, better than those I just had in Paris. Yes, the cleanse is done so I am off again, just for this week… it’s the holidays. I poured some of the amazing butter, garlic, parsley and white wine broth from the mussels onto a bit of my salad which was beyond. The Texas BBQ Shrimp wrapped in apple wood smoked bacon, brushed with home made BBQ sauce & served on a bed of warm cucumber salad sounded amazing as well but I didn’t go that far. And the peanut butter pie covered in chocolate was totally necessary. One of my favorite places in Baltimore, a must when visiting the city of John Waters. 1812 Bank Street, 410-342-2172
