New Music September 2016

Totally hooked on Polly Scattergood and James Chapman (Maps) aka OnDeadWaves, whose moody haunting debut self titled album came out earlier this year. They just released two new tracks called Dusk Sessions #1: a new acoustic version of “California” and their cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb.” Aluna George also has a new album out, I Remember, with great tracks to dance and get melancholy to, especially digging the track “In My Head”, below. Warpaint released “New Song” a few months back, off their latest release, which comes out September 23rd on Rough Trade. Knee deep in it with those girls, they are touring all over and playing the 9:30 Club October 4th, Warsaw October 7th and The Fonda in LA October 13th (birthday present to self!) I started listing to that Tame Impala track again, which came out last year, “Let It Happen.” Sometimes a song just hits you at the right moment, and tears you up inside, in the best and worst way possible. Blood Orange also released his third album this summer, Freetown Sound, with an incredible list of collaborators and tracks, including Best To You. And the lovely Sharon Jones has a new documentary that was released this summer and features this exclusive song, “I’m Still Here,” which I can’t stop listening to.
