Silverlake based brother and sister duo ( Bruce and Erica Driscoll) Blondfire just signed with Warner Bros Records. I love this track off their last album, which they released November 2011.

Second Date Look, Policia in West Hollywood

Ok, so this Saturday’s first date went swimmingly and we are up for another one this Wednesday. This time I am bringing out my stilettos for a night of fun in West Hollywood which will start out at the Chateau and end at a private concert with Policia. Love this polka dot dress with these gorgeous zebra striped heels from Valentino and a sweet contrasting flower print clutch from D&G.

Fifty Shades

I read books one and three of Fifty Shades of Grey a few months ago. There, I admit it. And I am still amazed that you can’t open a mainstream magazine this month without some reference to the book or porn of some kind or kink in general. I skipped the Grey middle book because frankly it was all a little redundant and it’s not Fitzgerald, and well, been there, done that, in more ways than one… Continue reading

Antonio Lopez: Fashion, Art, Sex & Disco

Rizzoli is publishing a book of images by legendary fashion illustrator (and occasional model scout… he discovered Jerry Hall, Grace Jones, and Jessica Lange) Antonio Lopez this September By Roger Padilha and Mauricio Padilha with a Foreword by Andre Leon Talley and an Epilogue by Anna Sui. Mr.Lopez passed away in 1987 at the age of 44 but left behind a huge archive of work, including drawings and photographs, which used to appear regularly in the pages of Vogue, the New York Times, Women’s Wear Daily, and Interview Magazine. The book coincides with a retrospective of his work at The Suzanne Geiss Company gallery in NY, which opens September 6th during NYFW and runs through October 20th. Some sweet things to look at below… Continue reading

Three Day Rule, Adventures in Dating

Speaking of the horrors of dating in LA… Three Day Rule is hosting a soiree next Saturday afternoon for singletons at the W in Westwood. If you buy tickets through this link and type in the promo code “LAblog” they are 50% off. I won’t be there because I already have a date for Saturday (!) and though I’ve never actually used the site I do like their ethos and effort and hey, if you don’t have a date or something better to do, what’s the harm as my mother would say. Last Night’s Parties…

There were a lot of parties last night on both coasts but we only made it to two in LA. We started with cocktails on the rooftop of Petit Ermitage where LOFT was celebrating a collaboration with Giuliana Rancic to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and then made our way to the Chateau where there were some New Yorkers in the house. Vena Cava and Gen Art were kicking up their heels to celebrate the launch of VC’s Fall collection at Barney’s New York. Coachella darling St.Vincent played an acoustic set by the pool which was pretty rad and had my partner in crime kvelling throughout the night. Lots of fun gals in attendance too… Malin Akerman, Busy Phillips, Sophia Bush, Jenny Lewis and Natasha Lyonne amongst them. On the East Coast, Barney’s Co-op feted Prabal Gurung and its exclusive launch of ICB with a slew of guests including Simon Doonan and Hannah Bronfman. *Note: the sweet leopard sandals I’m wearing above are from Theodora & Callum. Pics of me and my date as well as a video of St.Vincent from last night are below… Continue reading

Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge Boots

The Sorel gals were in town yesterday so I got a pair of these gorgeous new boots. I’m obsessed with the wedge heel they’ve been doing the past few seasons. Love the details and hardware on this one and they’re insanely comfortable. The heel is virtually invisible but still gives you great height and makes you feel sexy. I wore my other ones to death during Sundance and in NYC last fashion week.

Marinated Jalapenos

As long as we are on the subject of food not fashion (see below) some of you may like this little food trick I’ve been using again recently. When I need a little kick in my omelette or green salads or the occasional tuna salad I like to slice and marinate fresh jalapeno peppers in rice vinegar. You can leave them soaking for as little as ten minutes, which obviously makes things a little more spicy or overnight and for days on end which still makes things spicy but not as hot. This is also the not so secret ingredient for my signature couscous dish which is so easy to make! I’ve also thrown them into my deviled eggs recipe when the mood strikes. The painting above is by Jonathan Aller.
