Tory Burch Norah Satchel

Meet my new bag. Her name is Norah. She is lovely and I am obsessed with her. She smells like new leather. Kind of like a new car. And equally fun to roll around with. She is from Spring 2012 so in stores now. Thanks for the love Tory Burch! You must have heard my cries for a new grown up bag! xox

Ellsworth Kelly at Matthew Marks LA

Ellsworth Kelly is having a show of new and older works at Matthew Marks which will inaugurate Marks’ LA gallery. The show includes six new two-panel paintings exhibited here for the first time as well as a group of 1952-54 collages Kelly made in Paris as a young lad, including Study for Black and White Panels, and a 1966 painting Black Over White. Kind of rad. Opening Thursday, January 19th 6pm- 8pm and up through April 7th at Matthew Marks 1062 North Orange Grove.

Dawn Olivieri on House of Lies

I just started styling Dawn Olivieri who is on the new Showtime series House of Lies with Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell. Dawn wore this gorgeous Bill Blass gown from the Spring 2012 collection with a Kotur clutch and Monika Chiang heels to the premier last night. I think she looks stunning! So excited to work with her. The show airs this Sunday on Showtime but if you can’t wait you can watch the full episode below. The show is fantastic, I saw it the other night and am hooked! More shots of Dawn and the cast are below as well… Continue reading

A Grown Up Bag

I want a new grown up bag. This year I only want grown up friends, grown up men, grown up clothes and yes, grown up bags. I miss covering shows in Milan and Paris because that would usually be the time of year when I would get a new bag (editors discount + tax free = insane price for insane bags) so I am thinking maybe March will be time to go to Paris again. Dying over this Valentino’s leather roses tote and Dolce Gabbana mini Miss Sicily bag, but this Mulberry bag is my favorite. I really want this bag

Sascha Rice, A California State of Mind

I saw Sascha Rice’s new documentary The Legacy of Pat Brown, about her grandfather a few weeks ago at MOCA and fell in love. I am admittedly a sucker for nostalgia of any kind but it has to be done right (see Mad Men vs The Playboy Club) and Sascha hits it on the nose. She takes just the right amount of family drama (her uncle is current California governor Jerry Brown, Pat’s son), combines it with California’s rich political and environmental history and weaves it gently thru a certain period of American lore creating a beautiful honest portrait of not only someone close to her own heart but the heart of a great state. Plus it’s one of those documentaries that tells a really fascinating story without talking heads. Continue reading

RIP Sebastian Quezada, I Remember

This new remix of “I Remember” by AraabMuzik is kind of perfect for Sebastian (in my mind anyway). Our old friend from Bard, Sebastian Quezada, passed away a few weeks ago and his memorial service is in NYC later this week. He was one of those guys that even if you met him once you would never forget. He had an amazing spirit and a really special soul; creative, smart as a whip, fun and always full of light. We were friends at Bard and for a few years after graduation but then lost touch for years until he found me on Facebook earlier this year. He had a smile that said it all and an incredible gift for bringing people together. He will be missed. The photo above was taken by his old friend Luke Rothschild, Sebastian is far right, blonde… Luke did some other great photos & etchings of Sebastian in 1989 as well, below… Continue reading
