The Roof, Hotel Wilshire

This post is a bit overdue. Last month I went to a friend’s birthday at The Roof bar on top of the Hotel Wilshire, a small boutique hotel that opened a few months ago across from the Conde Nast building on Wilshire and Crescent Heights. Kind of a brilliant much needed Continue reading

Soap & Glory, Marcia Kilgore

Soap & Glory is finally stateside and at Sephora! Marcia Kilgore, the legendary beauty goddess who founded Bliss Spa (and saved my own skin from itself) launched the line in 2006 and it’s been a huge hit over in the UK ever since. Their products, including the lip gloss, Sexy Mother Pucker (so Marcia, her sense of humor is beyond…) all have that touch of effective beauty and humor. Marcia and I met in the fall of 1995 when I saw a small posting in the NY Press‘ “Best Of” issue. The Let’s Face It beauty spa at 568 Broadway, which within a few short years would become Bliss, had been voted Best Facial so I went and tried it and fell in love not only with Continue reading

Hedi Slimane, California Song at MOCA

Last night Estella and I went to the opening of Hedi Slimane’s photo show “California Song” at the MOCA PDC in West Hollywood. I love Hedi’s straightforward simple images and the crowd was a great mix including Jeffrey Deitch, MOCA Gala co-host Dasha Zhukova, Lydia Hearst and Kirsten Dunst. The show runs thru January 22nd, 2012. Hedi’s photos of Francis Bean and Kate Moss below. Continue reading

Caulfield’s Opening Night, Rose Apodaca’s New Book

Last night at Caulfield’s inside The Thompson Beverly Hills, a flock from LA’s art and fashion world gathered to celebrate the opening of Beverly Hills’ newest dinner and drinks haunt and to toast one of my favorite fashion editors’ new projects, Rose Apodaca’s book Fred Hayman – The Extraordinary Difference: The Story of Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Glamour and the Showman. Everyone was there and Continue reading

Date Night Friday, Casual Dinner in Hollywood

In keeping with the theory that guys like girls in simple outfits, nothing too chic or complicated on a first date I am trying my best to do just that: keep it simple. And this is as simple as I get… a DKNY tunic dress, J Crew denim jacket, Alexander McQueen heels and Rebecca Minkoff bag. Still fun but perfectly casual for a get to know you dinner in Hollywood on a Friday night. Right?

Lana Del Ray in Wonderland

My favorite songstress of the moment Lana Del Ray just bagged her first magazine cover (of what I am sure will be many) for Wonderland Magazine. Bets on her opening the spread of Elle’s next music issue, I’m sure Joe Zee has her on his board at the moment. I have to admit these are the moments when I really miss having a proper magazine to fill the pages of. I live for new talent. So exciting sharing stuff with the world on pretty glossy pages. Continue reading

Marisa Berenson, A Life In Pictures

Rizzoli just published a new book by Yves Saint Laurent muse and 70’s “It Girl” Marisa Berenson. “A Life in Pictures,” guest edited by Steven Meisel with an introduction by Hamish Bowles and a conversation with Diane von Furstenberg came out in October and tomorrow Wednesday November 9th the iconic granddaughter of designer Elsa Schiaparelli will be signing copies of her book at Clic Gallery in NYC. Ms. Berenson, who began her fashion career at age sixteen, had countless shoots and covers in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Time, Newsweek, and was a part of legendary films like Luchino Visconti’s Death in Venice and most recently one of my favorite Tilda Swinton films, I Am Love. A peak at some of the images from the book below… Continue reading

Estella Warren at The Immortals Premier

Estella wore this look last night to the LA premier of Relativity Media‘s new film The Immortals. The blazer is Hugo Boss, who I love for clean cut fitted suits, over a basic white tank top and black BB Dakota riding pants (they look like leggings but when you get up close they have this great detail that you usually find on riding breeches which I love!) With a Swarovski clutch and Aldo shoes. Continue reading
