John Currin’s “New Paintings” book came out last week from Rizzoli. I love his work, for years I’ve dreamed of owning one of his paintings. On December 2nd Gagosian will do a pop up shop at his London space where you will be able to buy catalogues, posters, prints and limited editions by gallery artists including John Currin, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, and a slew of others on his roster. I’ll settle for the book above as my holiday gift…
One of the most frustrating things about seeing the new collections is waiting months at a time for them to arrive in stores so I thought it might be good to take a break from what we can’t have to what we can have. This presentation was actually over a week ago, or to be honest I don’t really remember what day it was but it was during NYFW. I loved Brooklyn-based Samantha Pleet‘s sweet alternative girls. Especially the looks with the shorts and that poncho. Such a sweet line. Dying to put some stuff on Taryn. I was trying to get the shorts look for her for last week but the collection went right into sales. We will try again… Stay tuned for more Samantha Pleet!
In early 2004 while I was working as Fashion Director for Russian Elle in Moscow I had my assistant call the studio of artists Vinogradov & Dubossarsky to see what they were up to. Connie Briton looks amazing in tonight’s theme color. And I am so happy Friday Night Lights finally won some awards! Most of the red carpet was sadly pretty dull and oddly mostly, well, RED. Everyone and their grandmother wore red! A lot of the ladies look very pretty but it was just dull. There is nothing more to say.
