Joe’s Jeans Ads, Old & New

Joe’s Jeans unveiled a new ad campaign this week featuring Paz De La Huerta, a born and bred New Yorker, which instantly makes me love her, plus she is a cool and interesting actress and I am dying for The Linda Lovelace Story she is in with Malin Akerman to come out (or at least start shooting)… totally off subject but definitely worth mentioning. Anyway, I shot a few of the Joe’s Jeans ad campaigns in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and always find it interesting to see what they are doing. When I did my first meeting with Joe Dahan in 2007 he looked at my book of tear sheets from magazines I had worked for and the image above of Karolina Wydra from a 2001 Russian Harper’s Bazaar shoot caught his eye. It made perfect sense because it had that infamous backside he loves to put in his ads but it also had a subtlety we all liked for the campaign. At our next meeting Joe decided he wanted a nude girl walking down the street in Continue reading

Chanel Couture, Fall 2011

Lustful layers for the rock and roll widow (and maybe a few Upper East Siders as well…) Love the monotone lacy frills and thrills at Chanel‘s Couture show. Dowdy never looked hotter.

FEED 1000

Lauren Bush’s FEED organization collaborated with Judith Leiber to make this rad clutch I am obsessing over. Each one sells for $495 and $250 from every bag sold will go to supporting global food-supply programs which translates into 1,000 school meals for children in need (hence “FEED 1000”). The bag went on sale in May at Bergdorf Goodman‘s and online. I met Lauren a few months ago at Aspen Fashion Week where she participated in a panel and became an even bigger fan of her and the organization which does so much good. What better way to do good then to look good?

EcoStiletto

I love this eco-stylish website I just found out about. Eco Stiletto (LOVE the name!!) was created two years ago by Rachel Lincoln Sarnoff and the name is just a small part of what makes it so great. Angela Lindvall, who is a big environmentalist as well as an overall rad chic, cool mom and legendary model has been doing guest blogging for them. The website is devoted to all things eco-chic, sustainable and green which I am a huge fan of. I styled & photographed Angela in eco-conscious brands for the Green Issue of WWD in 2008 which is what these shots are from.

M83, New Album & Tour

M83 is Anthony Gonzalez. He creates dreamy melancholic soundscapes that take me back to, well, years ago to be honest. I love this sound, it goes well with wandering the streets of foreign cities, exploring the world on your own and finding whatever you’re looking for… He has a new album out later this year and goes on tour in October with a stop in LA November 9th and NYC on November 22nd. Full tour dates below… Continue reading

RIP, Cy Twombly

American artist Cy Twombly died today at 83 years old. He created beautiful large scale drawings and paintings with amazing energy and layers, introducing them to the world with his first solo show in 1951 in NYC. I love his work. A magical soul. RIP…

Port Magazine

Hmm… All the men I want to marry are publishing and appearing in Port, a new style quarterly out of London. Marketing themselves as “The Intelligent Magazine for Men,” they’ve got Daniel Day-Lewis, Johnny Depp and David Remnick as cover subjects which pretty much says it all. Love it. The second issue is on newsstands now with the Editor in Chief of the New Yorker on the cover. Sigh…

Alexis Mabille Couture, Fall 2011

Alexis Mabille Couture Fall 2011. Really wish I was in Paris right now… Slightly off subject, I saw Woody Allen‘s new film, “Midnight In Paris” over the weekend and died over it. The world is a different place and anytime someone or something can take me back to another era I go willingly…

Decomposition Book

I love composition books. I use them for everything from inspiration collage keepers to journals and at shows in NYC, Milan and Paris during fashion week to take notes on trends and ideas throughout the collections. The Decomposition Book is made of 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper, chlorine-free, using soy-ink, which allows the papers to be recycled again (that is if you decide to recycle inspiration…) Genius. And so cute! I love the cover design.
