Gaby Basora & Zoe Cassavetes

One of my favorite designers, Gaby Basora of NYC’s Tucker just did a little collaboration with Zoe Cassavetes for her Summer collection hitting stores now. I am obsessed with this polka dot jumper and the low cut back. Insanely hot.

Sweet Music

When I was in high school (and straight edge) I used to say music was my drug. Well, last weekend I spent three days getting high on music at Coachella for the third time in my life and it just gets better and better. All in all it is a sublime spiritual experience to be surrounded by so much talent and so much amazing music. I saw everyone… The Kills, Mumford & Sons, Empire of The Sun, The Strokes, PJ Harvey, Kanye and everyone in between. I loved new comers Foster The People who look like they all stepped out of a model apartment in Milan, but can actually play music. And sadly I missed Two Door Cinema Club on Sunday and WarPaint and Cut Copy because Friday was a bit of a cluster…. It was an amazing weekend though. I skipped most of the parties in exchange for the music and spent it doing some work while hanging out with friends from NYC. There is always some sort of interesting twist to Coachella and this year it was the party at Sean Parker‘s house (three in a row actually though I only ended up going to one) followed by a pool party the next day for Lacoste where we chatted with the Winklevoss twins about music. Weird and wonderful in the best way. Georgiana and Daisy dancing in the late night field of Coachella 2011, above.

Art in The Streets

Before I fell off the face of the earth at Coachella I went to the artists’ opening of MOCA’s new show Art In The Streets, a stunning history of graffiti art in all its forms and glory. Everything from the first train in NYC to the last Banksy wall and everything in between (including some great moments in publishing history… Thrasher!) Usually at an art opening it’s difficult to really look at the work but this show was so intensely mind blowing that you couldn’t help but be enthralled. I walked around for an hour, breathless, with my eyes glued. A phenomenal historical show. See if you can find the tiny typo in the wall description I saw at the show… Continue reading

Gone to Coachella…

Gone to Coachella… will be back soon. I have decided in my next life I want to either be in the band or with the band, I don’t care which as long as I am surrounded by music 24/7. Period.

Ember Skye Clutch

Totally obsessed with this Fall 2011 clutch from 25-year old designer Amber Fair’s three year old line Ember Skye. Cannot for the life of me explain my new obsession with blue (usually one of my most dreaded colors) or why I’ve become attached to a myriad of blue shades this past year. The LA-based line sells at small boutiques in California and on the East Coast as well as online.

This song from Warpaint was on repeat this past weekend while we were shooting in St.John. I am obsessed!! The all girl band has been around in LA since 2004 and just had a new album, The Fool released in October of 2010. And they’re playing Coachella this Friday which I am so excited for!

MOCA Art Panels

Last summer I joined the board of the MOCA Contemporaries as an Education Chair and one of the things I’ve been working on for them besides organizing studio visits with artists is the Art Panels series. Our first one is next Tuesday at CAA with an amazing panel of speakers including Pat O’neill, Penelope Spheeris and Mark Bashore who heads Digital Kitchen, an effects studio I have been obsessed with for the past few years. St.Tula and Adolfas would be proud I think…

St.John

I am in St.John for a few days shooting one of my best friends, Aurora Tower, for the July issue of ELLE magazine. Chances are this will be my only blog post for several days… More later, for sure.

Rachel Pally

California girl Rachel Pally launched her online boutique of contemporary favorites for spring and summer this week. I love her line of easy to wear and affordable dresses which she launched in 2002. Perfect for the beach (and the beach party…)
