Alpinestars by Denise Focil

A while ago I was thinking about what I would really love to wear right now and came up with the idea for this blazer while having a seersucker moment. I also became obsessed with this pink silk fabric I found in NYC with an amazing fly print all over it. I have been fixated with bees, flies and bug prints for months now and designed the little blazer above with Alpinestars by Denise Focil for Spring 2011. Amazing track off of Toronto-born and Montreal-based Stars‘ latest album, The Five Ghosts, released this past June on the band’s own label Soft Revolution. Love her voice. They’ve been making music as Stars since 2007 and prior to that were all in the indie band Broken Social Scene.

Hands, Brave Motion

Completely obsessed with this band, Hands, out of LA. Geoffrey Halliday, Ryan Sweeney, Sean Hess and Alex Staniloff. This is a recent track. They released an EP called “Cities” in 2008 but from what I can gauge they haven’t released a full length album yet but I am guessing it is coming soon. They are playing tonight at the Glass House and at the Echo on December 13th. Who is coming with me?

Ports 1961 Pre-Fall 2011

Ports 1961 can do no wrong. Even that burnt orange pumpkin color that I would normally hate looks somehow alluring and gorgeous. I love the subdued color palette that is emerging for Fall 2011 even though I am still not sold on these multiple seasons and it seems insane to talk about Fall 2011 when we aren’t really done with 2010. No wonder we are all obsessed with youth serum…

Paul Harnden Shoemakers

Everyone wants what they can’t have and thus we love elusive designers. Paul Harnden has been designing for almost twenty five years and his line Paul Harnden Shoemakers is carried in only a small handful of boutiques including in that of another elusive fashion world favorite, Comme des Garcons. He doesn’t do press, doesn’t do Twitter and most definitely does not have a Facebook page. He started out as a shoe designer, hence the name and now makes men’s and women’s clothing and accessories. I have a small crush on him… and these perfectly beat up boots.
