Champagne & Heels 3rd Anniversary Dinner with Tsubo

This past Saturday July 13th a few of my friends came out to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of this blog with a sit down dinner at Caulfield’s in Beverly Hills and Tsubo, one of my favorite shoe brands. Ok, fine, so I just use the anniversary as an excuse to get people together so we can eat great food, drink amazing wine and be showered with presents. Life is short, and I believe in the positive power of sharing food and gifts, especially when you can do it with good friends. Anthology Film Archives is running a retrospective of Russ Meyer’s films August 15th-25th. They’re screening everything from Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! to Motor Psycho, Mudhoney and Beyond The Valley of The Dolls. Basically, all the classics you saw, or tragically missed, in film school. Difficult Men

No, the title of this post is not biographical, at least not today. It’s the title of Brett Martin’s new book, Difficult Men: Behind the Scenes of a Creative Revolution: From The Sopranos and The Wire to Mad Men and Breaking Bad. There is an excerpt of it in the July issue of GQ, which is where I got obsessed with it (*sorry GQ, I can not stop using the word obsessed inappropriately, I swear, I tried!) The excerpt is a little sad and timely in light of James Gandolfini’s death but an amazing read. The book comes out July 3rd, just in time for some relaxed summer beach reading.
