Marilyn Minter at Regen Projects

Marilyn Minter has a new show (her second at the gallery) opening at Regen Projects Saturday April 6th from 6pm to 8pm. The show includes five large scale paintings alongside Minter’s earliest black and white photographs from 1969, of her drug-addicted mother. I love her “exploration of the pathology of glamour.” Amen. The show is up through May 11th at the gallery’s new location, 6750 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, 310-276-5424. Gallery Hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am – 6pm.

Kate Young for Target

My Russian archives have come in handy this week. Fellow stylist (and one of my old contributors to Russian Harper’s Bazaar) Kate Young did a collaboration for Target, which hits stores on April 14th. I love Kate, she is one of the coolest stylists in the business and one of the first with editorial roots to start styling celebs years ago. Above is a cover shoot she styled with Isabelli, in a Dolce Gabbana look I pulled straight off the runway that season, for Russian Harper’s Bazaar in 2002. This Windsor Store Rhinestone bag is $40! Yes, $40. I don’t know what it feels like or smells like or how heavy or light it is but it looks amazing! I love the color and all the chains and “hardware”. Thanks to the ladies at People Style Watch who sent me a copy of their April 2013 issue ( Jennifer Lawrence is on the cover), where I spotted a ton of fun fashion finds (see above and below…) LOVE!

According to InStyle, “100% of the proceeds will benefit the Dress for Success charity, a non-profit organization that helps women in need regain their independence and self esteem by providing interview suits, career advice, a makeup bag, and a one-on-one beauty lesson from a Bobbi.” That is rad.

Butter, Goop, Gwyneth

Gwyneth Paltrow has done another collaboration with British nail brand Butter London, which you can buy on her site Goop. Why do so many people seem to love to hate her? It’s as though they take it as a personal insult if a woman is smart, beautiful and successful. Anyway, I digress… I like Gwyneth (except for some comment she made about Amy Heckerling’s film “Clueless” years ago, which I’m not sure I’ve forgiven her for yet). Otherwise, we are good. LOFT Pops Up on Robertson

One of my go to affordable brands, Loft, who does great dresses, jackets and separates, has a pop up store on Robertson that will be open through May. My friend and fellow stylist Nicole Chavez hosted a little fete for the store last night along with a few of her gal pals. I styled Nikki Deloach for the event in all black and white, which is my obsession at the moment (along with every shade of teal!
