Estella Warren, New Photos 2013

Estella and I did a shoot a few weeks ago at a friend’s apartment. I wanted to shoot the way I used to years ago when it was just me with a camera, no lights or fancy locations, and very little (if any) retouching. When I first started shooting I loved taking gorgeous couture gowns and shooting them in the alleys of Moscow or on the Lower East Side, in divey bars, and old train cars. Lately I’ve been feeling that urge again. Something (and someone) beautiful in a perfectly shabby yet somehow chic place to counter and complement perfection. It’s so obviously a guy’s apartment in the best sense possible, he is absent physically but always there, the photos and furniture tell a story all their own. Continue reading

VPL Fall 2013

Victoria Bartlett was the only one I managed to leave my house for yesterday. I loved the snowstorm that fell the night before but it wasn’t a great motivator for going to shows. That said, VPL is one of the few that I thoroughly enjoy every season and I didn’t want to miss it and glad I didn’t. As usual, the clothes were gorgeous (I fell in love with the black coat, you can’t see the details in the photo but it looks amazing from the side as well and is cut in a genius way.) And you can always count on VPL to have some great faux fur jackets. The shoes and boots were perfect as well. Love! Continue reading

Billy Reid Fall 2013

I haven’t been very excited lately about fashion or fashion week for that matter. Everything seems redundant, flat and uninteresting. Well, thank goodness for Billy Reid because he not only reminded me of why I love fashion but hey, there are some really hot men in NY, which he clearly snagged for his runway (there’s been a sad shortage of real men in LA lately, no offense but for real…) Dying over the colors and layering, and that dress and coat above. Beyond. Happy Saturday NYFW! Continue reading

Richard Chai Love, Fall 2013

I loved Richard Chai‘s collection which he showed on Thursday, especially all the outerwear and that coat below. The olive green story for men and women reminded me of vintage John Bartlett too, which is always a good thing. I miss John’s collections, especially the women’s stuff. Love Chai’s color combos and mixing and mismatching. Beautiful. Continue reading

NYFW Day Look, How To Dress Like A Crow

Loved Suzy Menkes’ article in this week’s T Magazine on peacocks versus crows. I am a proud crow since 8th grade. Love this T by Alexander Wang dress under a Junya Watanabe jacket, with MM6 leggings and Rag & Bone boots. The old and the new unite… Below a YSL bag, Nina Ricci sunglasses and a Smythson blank notebook, for show notes of course. Continue reading

Denim of Virtue Ad Campaign

Last week I photographed and styled the new ad campaign for the relaunch of Denim of Virtue, an LA based denim company with a knack for cool colors and great details. I fell in love with the blush pink denim below, everyone on set (both guys and girls) was drooling over the colors, studs and weaves. Elizabeth Bae, who runs the company, also asked me to do the creative direction and casting for this shoot as well as the final layout for the lookbook, which was a lot of fun. Kira Nasrat did make up and Addie Markowitz did hair, naturally. More from the shoot below… Continue reading

Estella Warren in Ted Baker , The Safe Haven Premier

Estella and I went to the premier of “Safe Haven” last night (directed by Lasse Hallström, starring Josh Duhamel & Julianne Hough, who are both adorable, Josh very much so… hello… watch the trailer below) Estella wore a dress from Ted Baker with an Amanda Pearl clutch. I love all the pinks! Yes, we are having a moment. It’s like that. We also went to the after party for a bit even though I had to be up at 6AM for a quickie WWD shoot before going to NYC today for Fashion Week. Pics of Estella, the red carpet and after party below. The film opens Valentine’s Day. Continue reading
