St. Germaine Bicycle

If you know me, you know there is no shot in hell I will actually be riding the bike, most likely I will be walking near the bike swigging my St.Germaine with some champagne. Nonetheless, I am obsessed. A limited edition bicycle from St. Germaine with a custom leather bottle holder. Genius.

Porter Robinson

Porter Robinson – Unison (Knife Party Remix)

Powered by mp3skull.com

Love this track from 20 year old DJ/producer Porter Robinson‘s last album, which came out last September. My little brother (I like to call him my little brother because I’ve known him since he was two…) introduced me to Porter over the holidays so all credit and blame goes to Reed Fox.

Christopher Kane Pre Fall 2013

Love this… perhaps it will end up on the red carpet sometime in the next few weekends. That would be lovely. More Christopher Kane pre fall 2012 below. Continue reading

Globes Parties Are Around The Corner!

For the past several years I have been lucky enough to attend the best party at the Beverly Hilton that is thrown for the Golden Globes the night of the ceremony. I am so excited for this year’s event on Sunday January 13th and there is nothing like dreaming of dresses and heels to lift a girl’s spirits after a rough couple of days. LOVE this Dolce Gabbana dress with Charlotte Olympia heels and a McQueen knucklebox clutch, which has yet to grow old for me.

Erdem Pre Fall 2013

As I’ve been reminded yet again the past 48 hours, there really isn’t much you can rely on, especially where people are concerned, so it is nice to know that some things in fashion are atleast as reliable as life can get. Erdem‘s pre fall 2013 collection is pretty sick, as expected. Hope everyone survived NYE. Thank God that’s over. Welcome to the new year! Continue reading

Happy New Year, 2013 is an Awesome Number

I am not going to lie, I kind of hate New Year’s Eve. So much expectation and pressure, it always makes me want to stay home in my sweats, which is actually what I usually end up doing. This year I somehow convinced myself that it would be fun to make some sort of plan, hang out with a few people and of course the original plan fell through. As usual. As is the case with NYE. But the second plan that is unfolding now seems pretty rad. An old friend, a new crowd, dinner and drinks and that sort of thing. I am looking forward to it and even more so for this year to be over. 2012 was not an easy year for a lot of people from what I can garner, myself included. It was filled with a lot of wonderful things but equally a lot of painful events and disappointment, which is essentially life I suppose. The photo above is from my train ride from Rhinebeck back into the city yesterday. I know it’s not very festive but I still like it. No, love it. It actually makes me happy. New Year’s always brings out the Russian in me, a little melancholy, a little hopeful and a lot of over texting… Happy New Year lovelies! It’s going to be an exciting year! Sundance is around the corner…xox

Little O in Hollywood, The Foxiest Family

When I was a sophomore at Bard I started babysitting for the coolest kids and their cooler mom. The Fox family is well known in Rhinebeck NY, Gina Fox and her husband used to own the Hudson Valley Antiquer newspaper and Gina still throws the best parties in town (especially when she was living at Grasmere where she let me do several shoots, one for Preen and one for Reni Laine’s music video). Everything I know about throwing parties, I learned from Gina. She also taught me how to cook and host. And the best parenting techniques (second only to my own mom of course!) I learned a lot of what I know from this woman. The Fox kids (a photo I took of them years ago above) were two (Reed), four (Olivia or Little O as I like to call her) and six (Jack) when I met them. Will, the youngest wasn’t even born yet. They are now, 17, 19, 21 and 23 respectively. Their mom is as cool as ever. Thank god she calls me her eldest child so I get away with as much as the kids do when I’m in Rhinebeck. Little O is house-sitting for me in LA and made this rad little film, which I think would have made Adolfas Mekas (and St.Tula!) proud. And yes, that is my Monkey in the video below… Continue reading

Pearly Whites, Garnazelle, Thakoon, Tasaki

So many designers doing gorgeous things with pearls! I started looking at the stunning Thakoon for Tasaki collection (below, old and new stuff) and then found so many other incredible pieces. I love this Garnazelle EnvoĆ»te-Moi ring above, with pearls and yellow gold (price on demand… of course). Continue reading

Happy Holidays!

Taking a few days off from work for the holidays, spending time with friends and family in Rhinebeck, New York (found a dead mouse in the kitchen last night when we got here so no doubt about a country Christmas this year…) I hosted a holiday dinner for one of my best friends last Sunday and made two roast chickens using the same recipe I did at Thanksgiving. The only thing I did differently, and it came out amazing, was marinating the celery, apple, onion, candied ginger concoction in rice vinegar for a few hours before baking. It was especially good when it mixed with the mashed potatoes on your plate. Above is our dessert table from last Sunday, which includes Estella’s gooey bars and Nikki’s pecan pie. And a birthday cake from Magnolia. Happy holidays!
