Hermes Spring Summer 2011

Perhaps it’s all the riding crops, corsets and leather straps but Hermes always has an undercurrent of the Marquis De Sade for me. What is there not to rave over and get obsessed with in Jean Paul Gaultier’s collections for Hermes. This is sadly Gaultier’s last collection for Hermes as he has decided to step down as Creative Director. His first presentation for the house in 2003 was equally as breathtaking as this one and all the ones in between. I don’t think he’s had a misstep yet. I love how his classic looks have so much understated elegance, narrative and rebelliousness all in one breath. A perfect representation of the brand itself. He will be missed but I am excited to see what his replacement, Christophe Lemaire will do next season.
