Shareen Vintage

A friend of mine shared the secret of Shareen Vintage in a hushed tone over dinner at Dominick’s a few years ago. Shareen Mitchell had for years opened her “girls only” space on North Avenue 21 in downtown LA to those few that had the nose to find her. She is well known in certain circles for having one of the best selections of vintage threads in the country and for unheard of prices. I finally made it to meet her while working at WWD and was lucky enough to be ushered into the back where the best pieces are kept. I loved Shareen and her store immediately and was excited when she announced her plans to open up on the East Coast. She has finally opened up a space that’s a little easier to find than the one she had started doing once a month somewhere outside of the city. Shareen Vintage can now be found in an apartment on the West Side. The hours are still just as odd and the red chiffon dress that flaps from the fire escape is probably the same one she had outside her LA and Venice locations. Prices are still golden ($25 to $85) and the selection still stellar. In LA, she can be found at 350 N Avenue 21 (323.276.6226) and in NYC at 13 West 17th Street on the 2nd floor (212.206.1644). Wednesdays and Thursdays 5pm to 10pm and Saturday noon to 6pm.
