Oscars 2012 Best Dressed

I love the grey dress Esperanza Spalding wore to the Oscars last night! Even though it’s simple and not that glamourous there is something very pretty about it. And the Givenchy gown Rooney Mara wore is really nice. More beautiful ladies below. Continue reading

Oscars Dresses 2012, Dresses That Inspire Me…

For Rooney Mara, Dior Couture Spring 2012 or Donna Karan Fall 2012 because let’s be honest Rooney is the only one taking chances out there and doing it in a chic way. I would have died to put anything from that Nina Ricci Pre Fall collection onto someone so was thrilled when she wore the most risky gown of all that I didn’t even put on my wish list knowing how safe everyone plays it on the red carpet. More safe and not so safe picks from my list below… Continue reading

Whiskey Girls

Allison Patel is one of those cool girls that just kind of gets it. There’s really no other way to put it, I adore her. So when she suggested we do a Whiskey tasting with her company Local Infusions of course I said YES!!! On the last official evening of fashion week we decided to try some of her favorites and compare notes on what tastes the best while munching on snacks from Murray’s on Bleecker (OMG I miss NY so much sometimes…) Allison started Local Infusions after seeing a “need in the whisky industry that, as a consumer, I had been waiting to be filled for years and frankly was tired of waiting!” So she decided to quit her job in the fashion industry and Continue reading

Max Mara Fall 2012

Love the 1940’s Russian / German military vibe at Max Mara (wouldn’t have said that in the 40’s but it looks really good on the runways right?) Obsessed with the whole collection, reminds me so much of what John Bartlett used to do with his women’s line ten years ago which I used to die over. Oh John, when will you do women’s again??? More military below… Continue reading

Sharon Lee Clarke, Brows from Heaven

I don’t want to be a total girl about it but OMG! My brows look AMAZING! Ok, full disclosure, I don’t always pay enough attention to my brows. Years ago when my first go-to beauty goddess Marcia Kilgore began making me over, teaching me what and when I needed to wax, I was much more obedient but over the years I have become a bit more relaxed, some may say too relaxed especially with my brows. So I had forgotten what an art the brows are until Sharon Lee reminded me. The week leading up to the Oscars is one of only a hundred times in LA (I kid… sort of…) when Continue reading

Voyage d’Hermes Pure Parfum

If you’ve met me or stood within a foot of me over the past few years you probably already know I am a huge fan of Hermes‘ Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. So when I learned that Hermes is launching the Voyage d’Hermes Pure Parfum in March I got a little excited. As usual the bottle design is stunning, and though I have yet to smell the new scent I have high hopes and am curious how the scent will match the aesthetic of the bottle. I imagine it will be woodsier and more muskier than the Sur le Nil (that bottle is a beautiful simple green tone that matches the scent perfectly…)

Evening Look, Vanity Fair Cocktails

Vanity Fair is having a cocktail party (and dinners) every night this week leading up to the Oscars which would seem like overkill but is actually quite fun. I went to the Monday night kick off event at Siren Studios hosted by Shailene Woodley and tonight we are going to the earlier private portion of an evening at Beso in Hollywood hosted by Eva Longoria. Tomorrow is the kicker though, a cocktail party hosted by Martin Scorsese at the Bel Air Hotel. Could you get any more LA grand than that? Love this Lanvin dress with Valentino heels and DVF clutch for anything cocktail related. Can’t wait for Sunday’s parties!

No21 by Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Fall 2012

Oh how I love Alessandro Dell’Acqua! So glad he is still around and love his two year old line No.21 which he just showed in Milan (have I mentioned how much I miss covering Milan & Paris shows?…) For years he’s been doing what certain other designers “revolutionized” a few years ago.
