Balmain & Anne Valerie Hash Pre Fall 2012, Russian Roots

I love my Russian roots, especially when they show up in collections. Balmain‘s czarist inspired pre fall collection above and a bit of the Constructivist lines in Anne Valerie Hash‘s pre fall below… Continue reading

Heather Belle, Faux Python, Eco Clutch

I pulled several Heather Belle bags for one of my clients a few weeks ago and went crazy over the Audrey Fold Over clutch above which comes in a slew of other fab colors. Heather Belle creates and manufactures all of her bags in downtown Los Angeles and along with her great leather bags she is only one of two designers using a technology that helps her create some of the chicest vegan bags I’ve ever seen (again, see above). Her line BelleEco is made of hand painted synthetic galvanized rubber, making them the ideal vegan fashion accessory. Eco and fashion conscious, I love it!

Vionnet Boutique Opens in Milan

If you are going to be in Milan for fashion week email Karla Otto to go to the opening of the Vionnet boutique which is opening on Wednesday February 22nd from 6pm to 9pm at Corso Monforte, 16. Or chances are you will receive the invite in the mail if you usually go to Milan Fashion week. I won’t be there this season once again (sigh) but will be thinking of everyone stopping for drinks before shows and enjoying dinners at Bice and La Langhe. Vionnet pre fall 2012 collection above (and below…) Continue reading

Day Look, Winter in Malibu, Summer in January (*It Doesn’t Suck to Live in LA)

I know in the rest of the world it’s Janaury but here in LA it’s May. Deal with it. This weekend I am going to Malibu with the parents who have run away from their cold Baltimore home to rest here in the warmth. The perfect faux summer look with a dress by Bally (one of the most underestimated of the Italian fashion brands, they do some serious stylish a** kicking every season), Helen Kaminski hat, Lancel bag and Lucky Brand wedge heels. Full disclosure, Lucky sent me the wedge heels in the ad to the right here. And if you know me, I am a hard sell on wedges and it’s only in the past few months between my Sorels and my Luckys that I have softened to the idea and been sporting them.

Thomas Wylde Pre Fall 2012

Love everything that Thomas Wylde creates. The pre-fall 2012 collection is especially sick with that pink bag I am dying over. More grown up punk rock (and the bag!) below… Continue reading

Love Potion, evLOVE

Just in time for Valentine’s Day love conundrums, triangles and wishes, actress Hilary Shepard has finally launched her home spun love potion evLOVE that she has been making for years for her friends (who include a not so shabby list of actresses like Courtney Cox, Daryl Hannah, and Rosannah Arquette). The scent includes Japanese yuzu, orange blossom, green gardenias and a little musk for balance. I love this scent! I am a fan of Hermes and Jo Malone so it was right up my alley. Plus, it’s supposed to drive the lads wild. If only you could scratch and sniff below… Continue reading

Margaret Thatcher in Blue, Chanel Couture Spring 2012

I saw “The Iron Lady” this weekend and though I probably don’t need to spell out what my politics were in the 80’s I was blown away by the film’s portrayal of Margaret Thatcher (and of course Meryl Streep‘s brilliant performance… beyond.) There was an Ayn Rand-ian vibe going on with MT and whether you agreed with her politics or not you have to give her credit for being a tough lady fearless in her beliefs and actions amidst a sea of men. It was amazing to watch. So when the film ended on her washing a tea cup after the film began with her remark to her husband about how she didn’t want to die washing tea cups, I was a little shocked and annoyed if truth be told. Aside from that I loved the all blue costume palette which MT sports and am loving the Spring 2012 Chanel Couture collection with an equally blue theme. More looks below… Continue reading

Molly Ringwald, Fond 80’s Memories

Clearly someone at Citizens of Humanity grew up in the 80’s or atleast developed an obsession with Molly Ringwald’s character Andie from Pretty in Pink. They’re not alone, I’m a child of the 80’s and LOVE that movie and a time when high school students in films were played by 30 year olds. I remember having my own moment with a popular preppy boy in high school who struggled with dating me because of the way I dressed and what people would think, it was very THAT. A slightly updated version of the look above with jeans by Citizens of Humanity, lace top by Dolce Gabbana, Isabel Marant sweater, Betsey Johnson boots, McQueen scarf and Issey Miyake vintage hat.

Countdown to Jason Wu For Target

We are officially one week out from the Jason Wu for Target collection hitting stores and I have to admit I am kind of just a little excited. I don’t usually jump thru hoops or line up at the crack of dawn for these things (excpet for Matthew Williamson for H&M, I admit, I reluctantly stood in line for that one but only left with a bikini and nothing else…) But this collection looks so incredibly good, classic Jason Wu, pieces that I really want to wear. Sunday January 5th in stores and online.
