Bulgari Le Gemme Collection

Bulgari

The sun rarely rests in LA and a gal can never have enough fancy sunnies to pair with her heels. Thanks to Bulgari we spent a gorgeous afternoon poolside at Sunset Tower in West Hollywood with our new shades and old friends, toasting their new Le Gemme eyewear collection.

Moab & Other Worn Wear Tour Stops

IMG_2850

Recently I’ve been doing long road trips, starting last August with a cross country trek from LA to NY and again this past December from NY to LA. Each trip takes on it’s own characters and it’s been fantastic to reconnect with myself alone as well as with all the incredible people I’ve met along the way. Last weekend I drove up to Moab Utah for a few days of glamping at Under Canvas, doing a photo shoot along the way and in various spots throughout the city. I fell in love with the red hills and the people we met so was really excited to hear about the Worn Wear road trip tour Patagonia just embarked on, starting yesterday in Ventura CA and moving throughout the country all the way to NYC, with a stop in Moab on Saturday and Sunday April 18th & 19th. Patagonia’s vibe is so much Continue reading

Festival Essentials, Coachella & Beyond

mcx-coachella-IMG_0451-mdnmcx-coachella-IMG_3971-mdn

I am looking forward to finally hitting Bonnaroo this June, but in the meantime I still get excited about Coachella, where I have gone since 2008. I hear all kinds of mixed reviews lately but the line up this year is solid, with a lot of young new bands and artists I have been listening to all year and would love to see live. As always, I am packing lightly, in every sense. I try and go with the flow at music festivals because plans are never what you make them and it’s just easier that way. This year Continue reading

Spinster by Kate Bolick

Spinster Kate BollickSpinster Kate Bollick

Add this to your summer book list, something I am really looking forward to reading, Kate Bolick‘s Spinster, Making A Life of One’s Own, which comes out this month on April 21st. Kate has a way of digging deep into my brain and saying everything I want to say. I love her for that. I also really love that she ordered the SNOB necklace for her and her best friend a few years ago. That made my day.

A.F. Vandevorst Fall 2015

a-f-vandevorst-021-1366

I am back to my black roots and feeling my high school punk days lately, right down to band shirts layered over long sleeve tops with pleated skirts and boots. The fall 2015 collection from A.F. Vandevorst nails my mood perfectly, with a post punk, mod goth blend that suits not only my sartorial cravings but also my urge to tell stories from that period gnawing at me. Continue reading

Under Canvas in Moab, Utah

IMG_2385

I went on a road trip this past week to Moab Utah, where we stayed in a luxury safari tent at Under Canvas, a glamping site in its second season with locations in Yellowstone as well. I fell in love with the landscapes, the site itself, the people, and Moab, a gorgeous tiny little treasure of a town. We did a film shoot as well as a photo shoot, and even managed to find time to take a three hour tour through the rugged hills (also called “Hell’s Revenge,” which should tell you everything you need to know) on a Hummer. A few sneak peeks above and below. More later. Continue reading

Seymour: An Introduction

IMG_1429

“Music is like God. It’s intangible,” proclaims Seymour Bernstein. I couldn’t agree more. Anyone that has ever had the hair on their arms raised by the sound of a certain song, or cried when the musical time machine brought them back to a powerful moment, can attest to that. Music is the oldest art form, the deepest, the most spiritual, and the one that reaches further than any other into our sense of humanity, connection, and longing for meaning. We connect to sound like a life force; it’s why we press repeat on ‘play’ a hundred times. It is the power of these questions and more, which Ethan Hawke tackles with Mr. Bernstein in his first documentary, Seymour: An Introduction. Continue reading
