New York based Monika Chiang opened her first free standing boutique in Los Angeles last night. The store is financially backed by Christopher Burch (yes, Tory‘s Burch) so it’s easy to get cynical here but I actually really loved the clothes. I ran in and out of the opening because I had a dinner to attend right after but I had just enough time to check out the threads. Mostly straightforward well made preppy classics (which I love!) but with a bit of edge for all us grown up punk rockers that still need slightly alternative cuts but these days prefer button downs and blazers to ripped fishnets and combat boots.
