Maalouf Beauty

Speaking of the fabulously talented Maalouf brothers, my old friend and favorite make up artist Elie Maalouf launched a beauty line last year with his brothers, Johnny, George and Joey (who is also Rachel Zoe‘s trusted hair and make up artist). A few years ago they opened a super successful salon in Birmingham, Michigan and last year debuted a small but growing collection of beauty supplies and products. I am so proud of Elie!! I remember struggling in NYC together for years when we first started out in the fashion industry. He and I began working together while I was still assisting Polly Mellen and he was assisting Dick Page. For years he was the only make up artist I worked with and I miss living in the same zip code. We created so many great shoots together…

Rachel Zoe, Resort 2012

I am obsessing over Rachel Zoe‘s new line. She debuted Fall 2011 a few months ago and her new resort collection is equally as good. InStyle magazine hosted a dinner for the uber-stylist last night in West Hollywood and I got to see some of the Fall pieces up close and loved the dress that Rachel wore all night. I also got to see Joey Maalouf, her hair stylist and also the younger brother of one of my oldest friends from NYC. I love a happy family coincidence. Whatever controversies about her vintage inspiration be damned because EVERYONE sources vintage and she kind of killed it with this new collection. Conde Nast Archive & One Kings Lane

I am obsessing over these prints from Conde Nast’s archive that are on sale today on One Kings Lane, a website I recently discovered since moving into my new place and suddenly needing to fill it with proper “adult” furniture and …stuff. They have sales that go live every morning with all kinds of great antiques, home decor and furniture pieces. I’m in love with the rugs too…

Erasure, New Album & Tour

Erasure‘s first album in more than four years, Tomorrow’s World, is out this Fall 2011 on Mute records. It’s produced by the UK’s Frankmusik, who has also remixed Lady Gaga, Pet Shop Boys, Ellie Goulding, and Far East Movement. They’ll be going on tour later this summer and will be in LA in October. The Help

I just finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It was just as good as everyone said it was, blew me away. It’s been a while since I have read a really GREAT fiction book. Yes, I’ve been on a reading kick lately so have read a lot of fun and really good books but this one was like one of those books you read that remind you of what truly great storytelling can be. I couldn’t put it down. By now it’s old news that the book was made into a film, with Emma Stone as Skeeter, Viola Davis as Aibileen, Octavia Spencer as Minnie and Bryce Dallas Howard as the detestable Hilly. Maison Martin Margiela, Resort 2012

One of my all time favorite lines, Maison Martin Margiela will never disappoint. His runway shows and presentations during Paris fashion week tend to lean more towards performance art but the actual collections they sell are like high end timeless basics with a twist. I’ve still got Margiela pieces I bought a decade ago. I also love that Taryn and I put together a look almost identical to the black sheer skirt & blazer above that she is planning on wearing to an event this week..

Versace for H & M

Donatella Versace is doing a collaboration with H&M that will launch in 300 H&M stores on November 17th 2011, with men’s, women’s and coveted home items. Versace also designed a pre-spring collection that will sell exclusively online in select countries from January 19th, 2012.
