One of my favorite LA designers, Thomas Wylde, is having a huge sale! I admit I am easy bait for anything with a skull on it and her leather bags, boots, blazers and dresses are too die for. She has a great way of meshing soft and hard, girlie and rough, pretty and edgy that I adore. The sale is Saturday July 9th from 9:30am to 8:30pm at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, 8538 Warner Drive.
Men’s shows are going on across the pond (which means Couture is right around the corner!) Gucci always makes me swoon, I love Frida Giannini‘s clean cut preppy but wanna-be rocker boys. Hotness.
Taryn wore this Fia Letter clutch to an event recently and in the process we discovered it was also an ingenious holder for the new iPad (which by the way I don’t have and am dying for if anyone is paying attention…) So sweet! I want a laptop carrier like this too. So hard to find a cute one…
String Fellow Hawks EP by dex-cabellon
LA-based rockers String Fellow Hawks are playing this Friday June 24 at 11pm at Bardot in Hollywood. The boys formerly known as La Vendi play toe tapping catchy rock songs with a 70’s undertone and some great guitar layers. They sound a little like early White Stripes on some of the tracks too. Last week I spent a few days in San Francisco with a friend and we got a local’s tour of some of the city’s best restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs. One of my favorite’s for dinner was Chez Papa, a French Bistro with a menu full of classics like mussels and escargot as well as Roquefort ravioli with basil and roasted pine nuts and Seared Sonoma foie gras, blackberry ginger compote and blackberry gastrique. The whole menu is amazing. I got on an anchovy kick while I was away so everywhere we went I had to have it and one of the best places we found the little guys at was an Italian bistro close to our hotel The Crescent (which by the way is home to the sweet Burritt Room bar on the 2nd floor, see above, where from 5pm til 2am they have Continue reading
I’ve been going through old shoots lately trying to get organized, a horribly tedious process if truth be told, the only joy is that occasionally I stumble on an image I’ve forgotten about and get re-inspired by. Jessica Stroup is one of my favorite actresses that I have photographed. She moves like a model (probably because she was one) and has the grace of a dancer (maybe because she could have been one).
