Jeffrey Deitch and Aaron Rose were amongst the NYC ex-pats in LA who attended the Levi’s Film Workshop premier of Alex Stapleton’s documentary OUTSIDE IN: The Story of Art in the Streets, the first and only film to go behind-the-scenes at MOCA’s Art in the Streets exhibit which opened in April. I was in NYC so sadly missed the screening but am dying to see it and still in awe of the MOCA show that went up last month. And still love the wall below so much… I had no idea whose work it was when I shot it in NYC last September but it made me happy to just stare at it…

Foster the People “Torches”

LA-born and based Foster The People‘s debut album “Torches” comes out this week. I saw them play at Coachella back in April and aside from being a casting call for a Gucci ad the boys can really make music. Hot guys and great tunes. What more can you ask for? Their self-titled EP was released earlier this year and included the insta-hit single, “Pumped Up Kicks.”

Speaking of Breaking Rules…

Several years ago, when I was struggling to get out of an admittedly bad and pretty abusive relationship (that I chose to stay in way too long…) I was also trying to regain my footing with work. Carine Roitfeld

The Financial Times did a profile on Carine Roitfeld this week and it only makes me love her more. I love women who push boundaries and break rules. Sometimes they get punished for it in the end but at least Carine has had a good run of it and lasted ten years breaking Conde Nast’s rules which is amazing. I happen to love herrings as well and think they’re very chic. I’m Russian after all.

Volkswagen & Moma

We went to the Volkswagen sponsored MOMA event last night where LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy did a DJ set and James Franco roamed the halls. Ran into lots of old friends and familiar faces and was generally entertained by the sights, sounds and champagne. Volkswagen is going to be sponsoring various acquisitions at MOMA and PS1 and last night they brought in a good looking crowd to announce it. Volkswagen is also launching a new hybrid vehicle which they displayed last night along with the classic bug above. My first car in high school was a Volkswagen Rabbit which my friends in Baltimore did pieces on. I have a photo of it somewhere…. Continue reading →

Taryn in Aurora Town

Taryn went to Coca Cola’s 100th Birthday in LA a few nights ago and wore this Aurora Town dress under a Plastic Island denim bomber jacket. I love the new Aurora Town dress line from Sunner, it’s the first season and there are several great maxi dresses I am crazy over including this one I put Taryn in. The Australian born and now NYC-based designer Susan Denner Lee makes these simple dresses that go easily from day to night. Her fabrics are clean and soft and the pieces are super affordable. Taryn is also wearing a Tory Burch clutch that we’re both obsessed with.
