Something To Carry Your Wine in…

These are kind of great right? Just something cute to carry your wine in when you sneak it onto the beach this summer (or a perfectly legal and respectable park picnic…) www.jessicacushman.com

Corey Lynn Calter & Krysten Ritter

One of my favorite LA designers Corey Lynn Calter did a collaboration on a dress with actress Krysten Ritter and today they celebrated with a luncheon at the Chateau Marmont. The all girl crowd was super cute and all dressed in Corey’s signature stylish vintage-meets-music-chic frocks perfect for days in the sun as well as nights in Hollywood. Anna Farris, Sophia Bush, Sara Rue, Rachael Leigh Cook and Shiva Rose joined some of our favorite journalists, stylists and editors to toast the talented designing duo. More pretty pics from the party here… Continue reading

Charles David for Fall 2011

For Fall 2011 Charles David, one of my favorite lines for affordable and always chic heels has done a slight shift and gone all out on their boots. The riding boot above literally made me stop and go “OMG.” And the prairie combat boot below is going to be perfect with everything from leggings and jeans to dresses and skirts (lately I have been obsessed with sequin mini skirts, boots and simple T’s, and a blazer over all of it depending on where I am going… it was my Coachella uniform but I’ve found it useful for certain things in LA as well). Can’t wait til they hit stores in September. And yes, there is definitely a trend going on with riding boots for next season (see below and below…)

Love this one as well…

Taryn in Monrow, Aldo and Tory Burch

Last night Taryn went to a charity dinner to raise money for rebuilding homes in New Orleans, hosted by Britney Spears, and wore this gorgeous Monrow maxi dress with brown leather Aldo heels and a Tory Burch clutch that I am obsessed with. I think she looks so beautiful. She is also wearing a Jessica Kagan Cushman skull ring which gives it her signature edge amidst all the pretty I love.

Levi’s and American Film Institute

Monday night I spent a couple hours watching some extraordinary short films that were part of AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women. The Levi’s sponsored workshop produces some amazing female directors and there was not a bad one in this bunch, all equally strong and compelling stories and voices. My favorites are above and below, “Neighbors” directed by Rachel Goldberg, really blew me away, not only with the story line, art direction and pacing but also the cast which included Twilight alum Edi Gatheig in a surprising role along with Kelli Garner who plays the lead, “Maggie”. AFI accepts eight women out of 150 applicants into the three week long program that sets these Continue reading

Santa Maria Novella

This weekend the thirteenth-century Florentine brand Santa Maria Novella will open it’s fifth US store in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Some generous soul gave me some of these phenomenal products to try and I am completely flipping out over the Body Milk and the Calendula Cream. The company first opened its pharmacy of herbal remedies and scents to the public in 1612 and celebrates its 400th anniversary this year. How many brands can claim that? They have a limited distribution and in addition to the five US stores they have now they also plan on opening in Denver and Toronto.

Best LA Shoe Repair

Amidst the dozens of boots I own these Frye ones are my favorite. They started to die a slow death months ago because I wear them year round, rain or shine, dresses and jeans, formal and day time. Whatever. I’ve been known to show up at a 15 person formal sit down dinner in these boots, granted it was at the Chateau, where anything goes but still, my mother would have yelled at me for sure. So after many months of putting it off and denying how badly they were beat up (two holes the size of half dollars on each sole… yes, that’s right, shameless…) I finally took them in, expecting a death notice. However, the miracle worker at Fast & Best Shoe Repair (the name says it all doesn’t it?) literally brought them back to life. Within a week my boots were back in business. Continue reading

Hat Attack

I pulled this hat for Taryn last week for this weekend’s appearance in Vegas and back in April I wore one of Hat Attack‘s designs to a shoot in St.John as well as the next weekend at Coachella. I love their hats, super easy and stylish and totally affordable (unlike those raffia hats I keep seeing for $400… I mean, come on). Anyway, in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Hat Attack has teamed up with 31 of their favorite online style bloggers, for the 31 days of May, to help raise awareness and funds towards the fight against Skin Cancer. Hat Attack will donate 20% of all proceeds to the Skin Cancer Foundation on all chosen styles showing how chic and stylish wearing a hat can be to promote safe skin care habits this summer. Banksy in LA?

I was driving down La Cienega in West Hollywood this morning and noticed these pieces on a store front window. Although it looks a lot like Banksy I can’t tell if it’s really him or not or someone poking fun all around… it’s the ‘esque’ that makes it curious… Anyone?
