Anna Sui & L.A.M.B.

One of my clients, Taryn Manning and I went to a couple of shows together this week. Both Anna Sui and L.A.M.B. are right up our alley, we both love the 70’s boho chic look and mismatched prints and lots of layers. The show at L.A.M.B. was truly a show in the grand sense and the perfect end to the week. It reminded me of the way Milan used to close with Versace in an an over the top way. So much fun. Taryn and I were sitting next to Gwen Stefani’s son and his nanny who let the super cute munchkin run to his mom as she took her bow down the runway after the show. I loved all the plaids and pantsuits, super chic and sexy. The energy of both lines is pure fun and obviously there is always fantastic music (Gwen had Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance” blaring).

Taryn above at Anna Sui in an Ainsley faux fur Eliza jacket (a new line I’m obsessing over right now), Mike Gonzalez top, Anna Sui jacket, Guiseppe Zannotti boots and a new Fall 2011 Amanda Pearl clutch and at L.A.M.B. in the seersucker Alpinestars jacket I designed for them this season.

The Fat Radish

New York Fashion Week wouldn’t be complete without dinner at the latest hot spot which right now is The Fat Radish on the Lower East Side. Apparently it took Chrissy and Phil Winser, co-owners of The Fat Radish along with chef Ben Towill two years to get the place opened because they were Continue reading

Zero + Maria Cornejo Fall 2011

Clean immaculate lines, experimental shapes and fabrics and beautiful tailoring as always. Tailoring is stellar everywhere this season. Year after year Maria Cornejo produces beautiful collections that not only push boundaries but somehow manage to maintain a broader appeal of sexy accessibility for those that may not veer towards the Avant Garde in fashion. Her shows are always presented in a beautiful old school way: small, quiet and packed with some of the most respected names in the business that appreciate and celebrate what she does. One of the highlights of NY Fashion Week.

Trends Fall 2011: Chunky Sweaters, Silks & Satins

I love a great chunky knit sweater for Fall but there is something even more chic and fabulous about pairing it with silk and satin which there seems to be a lot of on almost every runway for Fall 2011. So sexy! Max Azria, Jenni Kayne, VPL and Zero+Maria Cornejo, above. Also loving the rusty color popping up everywhere.

Obsessed… Jerome C. Rousseau Fall 2011

Jerome C. Rousseau‘s Fall 2011 collection is exactly what you expect from the young Quebec-born designer who is thankfully LA-based. Sexy, chic and full of surprising splashes of color. This season was inspired by Lola Falana and her “strong feminine attitude,” which Jerome loves. The new heel has a Victorian curve at the bottom along with Jerome’s fashionably modern twist. Beyond. Jerome also sent me an amazing link with some of his Lola Falana inspiration images, below. Obsessed.

Tory Burch & Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2011

Loved the boho seventies vibe at both Tory Burch and Tommy Hilfiger. Beautiful coats and tweeds at Tory, also loved the big bag in brown and gray. Great separates, lots to play with and layer which is always fun. Her first store is set to open this August on Madison Avenue. And am loving the masculine feminine thing at Tommy Hilfiger, have been obsessing over that lately as well and dying over the trouser and pantsuit looks below.

Victoria Bartlett’s VPL, Fall 2011

I’ve been obsessing over Victoria Bartlett’s VPL for years. Something about the simultaneous simplicity and abstractness of the clothes that I really love. There is a delicate thoughtful idea behind every cut, every drape and every line. Beautiful. And the simple neutral palette always makes Continue reading

Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2011

Obsessing over these trouser looks from the Cushnie et Ochs collection. There were some really beautiful dresses and pops of color as well but I am saving those for an Oscars dresses post… There was a simple sexy long black gown that would look amazing on Jennifer Lawrence. Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs keep getting better and better, this is a pretty tight collection with only Continue reading

Hexa By Kuho Fall 2011

Speaking of fantastic places to have shows… The Park Avenue Armory is a nice throwback to the way shows should be. And the way they still are in Paris… Thankfully Hexa by Kuho is here. Yesterdays show was a breath of fresh air and reminded me of what I really love in fashion. Not just great clothes but also a well thought out location and beautifully Continue reading

Erin Featherston, Suno, Elise Overland

Erin Featherston launches her new line Erin, above

Ok, full disclosure, I went to Elise Overland but left after 15 minutes just as the girls were starting to get on the ice. It looked like fun but I couldn’t handle the cold or being shoved against the speaker so went over to Milk Studios, which by the way, can we please just admit is not a good venue? It’s been three seasons now and the crowds and lines have not gotten any better and will only get worse. Yes, the space upstairs is lovely but otherwise, it doesn’t work. Anyway, the presentations upstairs were all beautiful. Erin Featherston launched her new line Erin which was full of great flowey dresses and tons of stuff to wear and obsess over. She has a way of doing party dresses like no one else.

Suno showed beautiful prints and plaids layered perfectly. I loved it. Billy Reid was in the Penthouse, I got obsessed with his tweeds and blazers for both men and women (photos later, my phone was dead by then). Really well done. The presentation was great as well, with the guys and girls quietly navigating the small parlor-like space they were given. Elise Overland above and Suno below.
