Wow. After ten years as Editor in Chief Carine Roitfeld has quit Paris Vogue to move onto personal projects. Carine is a brilliant stylist, art director and fashion editor which made her an even more brilliant Editor in Chief. Her Paris Vogue was my favorite Vogue in the world. I loved what she did and am sure whatever she does next will be equally as beautiful and special. Can’t wait to see…
Golden Globe nominations were announced a few days ago at 3am (no, I was not up) which means dresses galore to come!!! And with that, more clutches. I’m obsessed with Amanda Pearl at the moment, a young designer out of NYC who used to be a dancer and a designer at Marc Jacobs for four years. I have put one of my clients in her designs a few times and love what she does with shapes and color.
The January issue of W has a feature spread on Tom Ford‘s new women’s line which he showed to a select number of press back in September in New York. The clothes were presented at a very private hush hush presentation, 32 looks on each of the 32 superwomen for whom he created them, without photographers or any press running the following day. I love these looks from Carolina Herrera, especially with Awards Season around the corner and my list of favorite dresses coming together for the Golden Globes. For this years Emmy’s Diana Agron wore a Carolina Herrera dress I chose as one to wear in my best dressed predictions and ended up on the cover of WWD online in it. Ms. Herrera has a great way of marrying the classic with the modern that can look amazing on women of all ages.
It’s a little LA, a little NYC and a little Paris and now officially my new favorite place. Eveleigh opened its doors only a month ago and has already been christened the coolest place in LA this side of the Chateau. Polish-born and New York-based artist Piotr Uklański has a new show opening on January 12th, 2011 at Gagosian‘s NYC gallery. Discharge! will run through February 19, 2011. So excited! It’s up through New York Fashion Week so all us West Coast ducks can catch it before it comes down.
I will forever be a fan of Helmut Lang, the fabrics are always amazing and I love the color palette. And I’m obsessed with whatever is going on at Vera Wang! So sexy and chic, beautiful cuts, fun and flirty in the classic Vera Wang way but with a sweet edge. Love it. Helmut, above and Vera, below.
I’m not entirely sure which Awards Season I kept hearing about today in showrooms while doing market appointments but I know there is definitely one coming up ahead in January so whatever is going on a great clutch is always needed in this town. I love this one from Chloe Spring 2011.
