White Lies

This is a single off the new White Lies album, “Ritual’ coming out in January. Not sure I am getting all the metaphors of consumerism and commercialism in the video but who cares… I love these guys. They are responsible for one of my all time favorite tracks “From The Stars” and their first album was packed with one hit after another. And could Harry McVeigh be any hotter? Good grief.

I am still dreaming of a LEICA

If someone gave me the choice to have whatever camera I want, I would take both of these Leicas. At the moment I don’t have either and if I could I would marry the two, the M9 for how gorgeous it looks and the S2 for what it does (37.5 Megapixel!!! 30x45mm Image Sensor, etc). I played with the S2 for a few hours during New York Fashion week back in September. Leica had a stand set up to allow whoever wanted to borrow the camera for the day. And I did. It was amazing. I have never shot on a camera like it. Not even the Hasselblad 1 or 2 which is what I’ve shot all of my advertising campaigns on the past few years. But nothing compares. Sigh… I had to give it back but I still wake up and think of it every day.

PJ Harvey

PJ Harvey is releasing a new album, entitled ‘Let England Shake’ in early 2011. This will be Polly Jean’s first new solo album since 2007’s ‘White Chalk’. There is no music available just yet so we will have to listen to some oldies but goodies in the meantime. I love PJ. Have been obsessively following her for years. She is one of the most talented musicians alive. ‘Let England Shake’, her eighth studio album, is due for release on Friday February 11th on Island Records. Can’t wait!

For Colored Girls

I fell in love with this film. Loved the poetic monologues that I can only guess were true to the original play and loved the way it was filmed with severe close-ups of all the characters. Really well done. Amazing cast, phenomenal acting. I never saw the play it was based on, “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf,” a 1975 experimental play by Ntozake Shange but I thought Tyler Perry’s film was brilliantly done. It also made me wonder where Thandie Newton’s magazine covers are. I mean, honestly did American Vogue really Continue reading

Thierry Mugler

So taken with the Thierry Mugler Womanity Eau de Parfum bottle. I haven’t smelled it yet but am completely transfixed by the beautiful design and color of the bottle.

CellCeuticals CellGenesis

I finally ran out of the last product I’ve been using and got to start on the CellCeuticals CellGenesis bottle I received a while ago. It’s AMAZING. I love it. It says it regenerates new surface cells (spackle) which I am a big fan of and has vitamins A and C which we all know is great for skin. I plan on going without the needle for the rest of my life if I can help it (even if I live in LA for the rest of my life…) so these promises in creams go a long way with me. I’ve been using the CellGenesis after cleansing followed by the La Mer Regenerating Serum I’ve been hooked on for a while now. As soon as I put on the CellCeuticals gel my skin feel taught and clean, and for a few minutes it actually has that post-facial smoothness. I put both on only at night and while it’s just been a few days with the CellGenesis I am completely hooked. And something about combining these two seems to be working as well which is great because different products don’t always mix well.

Twin Shadow’s “I Can’t Wait”

I will never tire of the synth-new-wave inspired sound so am always happy to add a new favorite in that category. George Lewis Jr’s Twin Shadow released the new album, “Forget” with a slew of great tracks including this one, produced by Grizzly Bear‘s Chris Taylor. The album came out September 28, 2010 on Terrible Records which is also run by Chris Taylor. Full disclosure, the photo above has nothing to do with the album. It’s from a series I shot of the Baltimore music scene back in 2006. Just wanted an excuse to post it. This young girl ran a small recording studio in Pig Town.
