Deborah Turbeville

Russian Vogue Aug 2000_7

Missing Deborah Turbeville this morning. Her memorial was last night and I was reminded of how special her work is and how much I loved working with her. She was an incredibly talented, strong woman. I was always in awe of her when we worked together and can honestly say I have never worked with anyone else like her with the exception of Polly Mellen. Polly styled the infamous bathhouse photos Deborah took for American Vogue while Grace Mirabella was editor in chief. Ms. Mirabella was there last night at the memorial and I got to say hello to her, tell her how much I admired her and all the work these incredible women did before me. It was Continue reading

Shamir, On The Regular

shamirshamir

I don’t say this often but this track and video are hypnotic. I had to watch it three times after the first glance. Shamir Bailey is 19, from Vegas, and hard to resist. A male version of Azealia Banks but with his own twisty, groovy, dancing, subtly in your face vibe. His debut EP was released in June on Godmode. Love him. More please. Watch the video below. CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

> at Spring Studios on November 3, 2014 in New York City.

Some favorites from the beige carpet at last night’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. So many pretty frocks and faces. There is a fabulous seventies dresses vibe happening everywhere that I am very excited about. It’s a style I never tire of and one that dominates my own closet. Karen Craig and Georgina Chapman above, more below. Continue reading

Vote.

It’s election day people. Vote or don’t complain about everything that is wrong. If you have time to hit three events in one night in LA or time to buy a cup of coffee anywhere, you have time to vote.

The Prune Cookbook

cookbook prune

It’s here. The Prune Cookbook hits shelves this week and I couldn’t be more excited. I can’t follow a recipe to save my life but I love cookbooks. They are like art books to me. And I’m a good cook, I swear, ask my friends who have sat through my rambunctious dinner parties over the years. I just don’t like math so all the measuring and sifting is not my jam, yet somehow the great ideas I get from all the recipes I can’t follow to the letter always work out. I have yet to make blue soup and I like to think Gabrielle Hamilton would approve of the organic anarchist variety of cooking.
