Lanvin Spring Summer 2011

I love Alber Elbaz. Always chic and sophisticated, I’m obsessed with the grand way these pieces move as well as the color palette from Lanvin.

Isabel Marant Spring Summer 2011

What can you say about the fabulous Isabe Marant girl that hasn’t already been said a million times? She is cool, smart and effortlessly sexy every season. And she always has the best slouchy boots to obsess over.

Treehouse

My old friend Sarah Galperin just opened up a photography agency called Treehouse Reps. It focuses on kids photographers and has a sweet sensibility I love. I am a little obsessed with her logo and the ideas behind the launch. I love when people switch gears and follow their heart which is what Sarah has done by opening the agency. She used to own a small agency in New York years ago when she was just starting out. I always respected her energy, follow through and ability to just go for it. Visit their website and check out some of her amazing artists.

Ruth Reichl

One of my favorite writers (and editors I dreamed of working with) Ruth Reichl has been named Editor at Large at Random House. She had been Editor in Chief of Gourmet for many years and was the original food critic on both coasts. Her books are like gourmet meals themselves and I have read all of them, sometimes twice. Food writing is one of my favorite things to indulge in. The New Yorker Food Issue is unbelievable and Ruth Reichl got to do that on a monthly basis. I am excited to read her forthcoming books that she has spent the past month working on at the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire. Apparently she has a memoir of her years at Conde Nast coming out as well a cookbook, “The Tao of Ruth” and her first novel, “Delicious!” I can’t wait to devour all of them.

Rodarte for Opening Ceremony

Collaborations are the new addiction in fashion. For several years now it’s been an ongoing pattern to see large luxury brands doing collaborations with lower and middle market retailers as well as a few small high-end specialty boutiques. The latest is a collaboration between Rodarte and the Colette-like Opening Ceremony boutique which has seen the likes of Chloe Sevigny and Agnes B doing lines for them in the past. Rodarte’s Spring Summer 2011 collection is above.

Jumpsuits for Spring Summer 2011

Jumpsuits thankfully never really go out of style and every season there is a new crop of them to add to your wardrobe. I especially love them with heels and a blazer as they are the perfect blend of masculin feminin and super sexy. Below are my favorites from Spring Summer 2011 and an oldie but goodie from a WWD shoot, Benjamin Cho’s wool jumpsuit and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, above.

Nina Ricci Spring Summer 2011

When you tell most people who don’t work in fashion that you are obsessed with Nina Ricci, they look at you kind of sideways. Most people still associate the brand with their grandmothers parfume and frilly sweaters and such. The parfume and frilly details are still there but ever since Olivier Theyskens revived the brand brilliantly and beautifully years ago (I was lucky enough to be at his first amazing show for the house) the collection has been incredibly chic and sexy in the best feminine way. Though Theyskens is missed, these days it is Peter Copping who is creating the looks I am obsessed with. I can not get enough of the girly chiffon layers, vivid colors and asymmetrical cuts. The accessories have been stellar for years as well. The shoes and bags are gorgeous.

Verlaine Spring Summer 2011

Love this new line. I saw the show in New York during fashoion week but had to wait a while for the images. Plus it was one of those days when I didn’t have a minute to do anything let alone write and rave about how much I love Verlaine. They have only been around since 2009 on the Lower East Side and while there is room for adjustments to the collection, the clothes and the ideas behind them are beautiful. I can’t wait to watch them move forward and see what they create. www.verlaine.us
