Tory Burch is a genius. Seriously. I love her collections and especially the accessories the last few years. This morning’s show did not disappoint. Gorgeous flower prints, checkered fabrics and the groovy Sixties vibe was perfect. Her clothes are fun, wearable and totally affordable. Love.com!
Last night we went for oysters and deviled eggs (we just made a meal out of our favorites) at Cookshop after a great day of back to back shows and presentations. I will never get jaded and I will never complain about how tired I am during fashion week because it’s just the best job ever. Fifteen years later and I am still enthralled when the lights go down before a show and then all that beauty comes out. Beautiful clothes, beautiful women, beautiful talent. I am in awe. Tess Giberson is one of my favorite designers, and an old friend. She and I worked together at Calvin Klein eons ago and have stayed friends over the years. She is incredibly talented, a true artist and designer, and this was one of my favorite colelctions ever. It was a beautiful show and the pieces are stellar. Still my favorite Russian Harper’s Bazaar cover we did back in May 2002 (throwback Thursdays are fun!) Erin Wasson shot by Nino Munoz and styled by Katie Mossman with look 27 straight off the Milan Dolce Gabbana runway. I wrote that look down in my notes the day of the show and was thrilled with how Nino and Katie photographed it. This cover was hanging on the walls of IMG Models in NY for a while. They shot this on the roof of Nino’s apartment building in the West Village too, nothing fancy but boy is it beautiful.
Leave it to Dockers to fill a room with hot guys and invite very few women (except for us of course!) Last night in NY they celebrated the launch of their Alpha Collection, which hits stores today, with tacos, booze and a performance by Tinie Tempah. And lots of hot guys (see below…) Dockers is also opening up a pop up store for four weeks starting today at 25 Howard Street, which will be open 11AM to 8PM (closed Mondays so don’t bother). There will be a custom khaki bar as well as a real bar and every Tuesday through Thursday The Blind Barber will be on hand to give quick hair or beard trims. If you’re really itching for a make over you can opt for the anchor tattoos which Three Kings tattoo parlor will be putting on skin next Wednesday September 11th. Kings Country jerky and craft beer will also be served. I may pop in for a tattoo and coffee from Stumptown. Continue reading
The Met is opening a show of balthus’ work called Cats and Girls—Paintings and Provocations on September 25th through January 12, 2014. I love Balthus, and the painting above. Also love how New York magazine phrased their blurb on the show… “When you think about it, Balthus (1908-2001) was a lot like the internet: partial to pictures of cats and underage neighbor girls.”
